Recenty I have been blessed with the opportunity to devote myself full time to my sewing business. This means I can expand my services and offer new products! These ideas have been on my mind for years, and I am so grateful to be able to make them into a reality. Period Embroidery Many of us have marveled at the fantastic embrodery on period cothing, especially 18th century clothing, in such resources as "Kyoto Fashion: The Collection of the Kyoto Costume Institute" by Akiko Fukai. My goal is to make this type of garment accessible to costumed interpreters. Using specialized software, I am working to digitize actual period designs so they can be produced with an embroidery machine. These garments and accessories will have the look of the period, without hours and hours of impractical (and prohibitably expensive) hand embroidery. Here are so of the items I plan to offer ready made: 18th Century Civil War Vintage Bridal Years ago I was at the right place and time to purchase a large lot of vintage wedding gowns from another dealer who was going out of business. She purchased these gowns many years before from a bridal store that went out of business, meaning that most of these gowns have never been worn! Many still have their original tags. In the trade, these are known as "dead stock". In addition to this treasure trove, I have antique gowns from the 1910's through the 1950's that I have picked up here and there, along with headpeices and other accessories. I am working to setup a shop on Ruby Lane, and online antiques mall. Once this is up and running I will put a link on my website! |
